How this is calculated: The equivalent salary is the ratio of the destination metro's RPP to the origin metro's RPP, multiplied by the current salary. RPPs are published by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis and cover goods, housing, and other services. The 2022 RPP release is the most recent available and is used here.
